3 Tips For Keeping Up Your Productivity At Work While Pregnant
3 Tips For Keeping Up Your Productivity At Work While Pregnant Staying productive all day at work can be challenging. From chatty coworkers to social media and even the occasional times where you just space out for a minute or two, itâs almost impossible to stay completely focused throughout an entire workday. However, add on top of that a pregnancy and your productivity levels could take a major hit. But even with everything your body goes through during a pregnancy, you can still be an effective and efficient employee. To show you how, here are three tips for keeping your productivity up while pregnant at work. Get As Much Rest As You Can Your body is now spending all day, every day creating a life inside of your belly. That takes a lot of work, which leaves most pregnant women feeling tired and rundown for big portions of the day. Knowing this, itâs important to try to fight back the fatigue as best you can while at work. The staff at the Mayo Clinic recommends making sure youâre getting at least eight hours of sleep each night. In fact, you should probably shoot to get more since sleep can often be elusive during pregnancy. Keeping to a regular exercise schedule will also help to give your body an added boost of energy that will make the rest youâre getting feel more restorative. Keep Pregnancy Symptoms At Bay Every pregnancy is different, even for the same woman. Aversions, symptoms, cravings, and bodily tendencies all change depending on who youâre talking to and what pregnancy theyâre presently experiencing. But for most women, there are going to be at least a few things that make it hard to function like normal and maintain focus at work. Luckily, there are some things you can do to keep some of these more distracting pregnancy symptoms at bay. Kim Schworm Acosta, a contributor to FitPregnancy.com, recommends that those suffering from nausea at work should try eating small amounts of ginger throughout the day to keep your stomach settled. You should also try to sit nearest to the restroom in case you need to duck out in an emergency. If possible, try to take a short nap during your lunch break if youâre feeling especially tired one afternoon. And if things just keep slipping your mind due to âpregnancy brainâ, make sure you take advantage of a calendar and write everything down so you can always refer back to your notes. Communicate When Your Productivity Is Low Despite your best efforts, there will be days when you just wonât feel like youâre able to do your best at work. When this happens, Tracey Porpora, a contributor to TheSpruce.com, suggests communicating these feelings to your boss or coworkers so they can help you pick up the slack. On the days when you are feeling well, do your best to make up for the productivity you lost earlier in order to keep everything at work running smoothly for you. If youâre worried about how youâll be able to stay productive at work during your pregnancy, use the tips mentioned above to help you keep finding professional success during this exciting yet physically trying time.
